‘The Age Of Innocence’

Khyeli’s Age of Innocence is a deeply narrative collection, which re-imagines the classic coming-of-age story through the medium of moving sculpture. The collection takes part in four phases: dreams, pain, resistance, and freedom.

Dreams

The dreams phase evokes the playfulness and protection of childhood: the choice of fabric references the warming protective swaddling of a baby from the outside world. The neutral palette for this phase conveys purity; a genesis of soft whites, beiges, and greens which cast a soft shadow from the movement of skin in the hazy memories of one’s childhood bedroom. These burst passionately into a bright pink to close the rst phase: the rst sensations of sexuality found in the wrapping of a naked doll with ribbon.
